Biography

Drake von Trapp is a fusion belly dance historian, researcher, teacher, and performer, recognized for his pioneering research on male belly dancers in the U.S.

 

He holds a BA and MA in Dance, a post-master’s in Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies from Texas Woman’s University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Performance Studies at UT Austin.

 

His biographical and archival work on male belly dancers and fusion belly dance history has sparked generative discussions about fusion lineage, gender expression, and cultural transmission.

Hear ye, hear ye! Dancing at the renaissance faire is one of the oldest traditions in American belly dance history. This environment is unlike any other, which produced its own unique stylization. Explore the campy, joyous, full-bodied intentionality of this dynamic style.

Multi-Tonal Finger Cymbal Method

“Multi-Tonal Method” is a challenging, invigorating finger cymbal method that will break you out of your zill rut.

 

Explore a variety of common rhythms found in belly dance music and learn to play your cymbals confidently in this drill-style class!

 

It is recommended that dancers bring finger cymbals that are at least 2.5-3” in diameter.
