Veronica Lynn's Classes

Biography

Hello! My name is Veronica Lynn. I'm a professional dance artist and director of the award-winning company Disco Iskandar. My specialty lies in fusion belly dance, American Cabaret, and Egyptian belly dance. Among my professional offerings are folkloric styles including saidi, dabke, and Iraqi Dom.

Described by press as "masterly" (Orlando Sentinel, 2024), my style is unique, upbeat, and unforgettable. My education in dance stems from study under multiple teachers in Florida, Texas, and California, as well as my membership in the prolific LA-based company Sahlala Dancers from 2021 to 2024 and nearly 15 years of experience as a thriving soloist. Additionally, my work is informed by travel to Egypt and by study of the music, dance, history, language, and current events of the region, as well as those of the Levant.

I'm fortunate to call Orlando home. I provide entertainment offerings to all manner of events in Central Florida and maintain a presence in the Mediterranean nightclubs and restaurants in the area. I have organized two national tours for my dance company, and continue to travel to share this dance with audiences around the United States.

Rollercoaster:
Improvisational Belly Dance

Improvisational dance is a rollercoaster in which you are both the rider AND the operator. The thrill, joy, and excitement of it all is both alluring and a little frightening.

This workshop dives into tips and techniques for performing a polished, improvised belly dance piece. This class pulls from my personal experience learning to dance by performing in restaurants & hookah lounges and with live bands since the age of 18—and while many things in dance can only come with practice, there are plenty of tips I wish I’d known then!

We’ll be dancing continuously throughout this workshop while we balance the tightrope of both surrendering to the music and staying focused in our dance. Improvisational dance is a gratifying experience both for you and for the audience, and is for absolutely everyone to enjoy.

(Beginner to Advanced).

Sharp as Knives

Carve those isolations sharp enough to cut a man!

In this workshop we dive deep into the musculature that allow for small, precise, and snappy isolations.

Using targeted exercises for various muscle groups followed by challenging drills, we’ll explore what it feels like to nail precise isolations and create fast, interesting lock patterns on the fly, with an emphasis on improvisation.

(Intermediate to Advanced)
